Fleetwood Memorial Foundation

Fleetwood Memorial Foundation’s purpose is to provide virtually instant no-strings-attached grants to Certified Texas Law Enforcement or Fire Protection Personnel who are injured in the performance of their duties or to the families of such personnel who are killed in the performance of their duties.  Departments must apply for the for the family by submitting an online application available at:

Special Texas License Plates for Injured LEO’s in Texas

Police Officers injured in the line of duty, qualify for these special Texas license plates by providing evidence that you have been wounded in the line of duty as a peace officer, or you are a surviving spouse, parent, brother, sister or adult child (including an adopted child or stepchild) of a person killed in the line of duty as a peace officer. Relatives must submit proof of relationship.

Each September, the Public Safety Office has the honor of hosting the Star of Texas Awards. During this event, the Governor presents medals to honorees and family members of peace officers, firefighters, and emergency first responders who are killed or suffer serious injury in the line of duty. Since the awards began in 2003, 474 brave Texans have been honored.  

Nominations for Star of Texas Awards

The Star of Texas Awards honor all Texas peace officers, firefighters, and emergency medical first responders who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty. The award also honors federal law enforcement officers or special agents acting in assistance to state or local law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical first responders and are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty on or after September 1st, 2003. To be eligible for consideration, the critical incident must have occurred between September 1st, 2003 and June 15th of the year of the awards ceremony.

COPLINE

COPLINE is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving law enforcement officers and their families by providing 24/7 trained peer support for crisis intervention along with referrals to specifically skilled mental health professionals for follow up and continued assistance. COPLINE offers a CONFIDENTIAL 24-hour hotline answered by retired law enforcement officers who have access to continuous critical clinical support in order to help callers through the initial crisis as well as provide ongoing assistance with the successful management of various psycho-social stressors that impact a significant number of law enforcement officers and families throughout the U.S.
